3 things to check when you buy heels

I have always been a shoe addict, especially high heels. High heels give me the sense of confidence a girl needs from time to time to speak up, to feel good about herself and to go beyond The Comfort Zone. When VAIN The Collection was created, it was obvious high heels would become part of it: premium quality items that go beyond fashion trends for busy women who don't have time to look in the mirror for too long and yet want to look sharp as hell for meetings, drinks with friends, family dinners and any moment in between. That is what VAIN The Collection is all about.

During our journey creating VAIN pieces, we come across so many interesting insights, tips and different ways to look at your wardrobe.

In this Journal For Vain Ladies Only we want to share all insights, tips and stories about any item with a VAIN attitude. Let's start with what we discovered creating The Perfect Pair of High heels, so you get insights on what makes a pair worth it to invest in. Or not.

These are the 3 most important things to check when you buy new high heels:

1. Curved heels

Look at the positioning of the heels in relation to the counter of your new pair. The heels need to be curved to provide you better stability. When the heels are going straight down from the counter, you might encounter pain in the ball of your feet and in your back. We want to be more elegant, yes, but not at any price.

2. One stitching

You should only find one stitching line on the outside of your high heels (except for the top rim of course) and that is at the counter. Numerous cheaper quality high heels have a stitching line at the inner arch. Avoid. Not good. See picture above also for explanation.

3. Reinforced tips

This one is a bit more difficult to identify, but you definitely came across a pair who didn't have reinforced tips. If it's missing, your tips will crack easily, which makes your pair rubbish in no time. This is the result in such case:

Yes, the above picture shows one of my bloody expensive fashion branded high heel collection... This pair lacks clearly the pieces of reinforcement inside the toe box. Let me show you how this reinforcement piece looks like:

Just compare different pairs of pointy high heels you have in your closet and push on the tip boxes. Trust me, you will feel the difference.

There are more tips to give you, but this is the absolute top 3. More insights will follow on Instagram.

I told you, this will forever change the way you look at your beautiful collection of high heels.
